As I write, my parents are on their way to the big bear area in search of cabin. We've been waiting SO long for this. My grandparents owned a cabin about 10 years ago, but it was sold just after I married James ( I think). Since then my dad and mom have talked about it non-stop. We've all fantasized about it as well. And, here we are... they are finally shopping! I'm really excited about it. I gave my dad an idea of what I was looking for (ha ha!) and he did just that, laugh. I told him it needs at LEAST three bedrooms and some land attached so the kids can be outside. Capri asked for a fireplace and ice skating. JD asked for it to have a skateboard, and the Ice Age movie. James, at least to my knowledge, made no requests. Tella didn't voice much of an opinion either.
Here is what I told both my mom and dad.... Look around, find what you like, MAKE AN OFFER. Don't come home and think about it, we've done that for too long. MAKE AN OFFER. We NEED a cabin. Come on dad... we really need a cabin. And a lilac tree, but I realize that's a whole separate issue. And a blueberry bush.. will that grow at the cabin? Oh maybe! I'm sure you're not thinking about a garden at the cabin, like you need one more thing to keep up, but a blueberry bush would be great! Is it too dry there too??
Bottom line, we're on our way to a cabin!
This IS really exciting. We too owned a cabin in Big Bear (I'm sure I told you already) as a kid growing up. We were up there ALL the time. Practically every week-end, and lots of weeks in the summer time...It holds some of my better childhood memories. The kids' requests were soo cute. Isn't it funny what they think?? Have a good day...love you
