I want to be at thrift store shopper. My mom is great at it and finds all kinds of good stuff - she even found me this great Le Creuset (sp?) bakeware for $4!!. I went this morning and was intent on finding a new bag/purse for me and maybe even some clothes (since I have NONE and don't want to buy any since I hope to lose weight). No such luck... instead I found a snow white video and a book for the kids. I don't think I'm a thrift store shopper... or it could be the ones in escondido aren't all that great. Maybe I need to try somewhere more high end like La Jolla ( are there thrift stores there?) or Rancho Santa Fe? Something tells me my fellow Escondidians aren't getting rid of what I need, because they need it too.
Or, maybe I'm just too cheap even for the thrift store (where does that leave me? gasp!)..... Or if not to cheap, then too lazy to search through the piles and racks of nonsense they have there. Or maybe it's a combo of the two. Sad.

I would love to think I could "work" these stores too, but I never have been able to... : ( except like I told you last night for costumes and such for the kids as they grew up....I am going to go to the second hand shop for kids in downtown Upland though and see what I can find....it "looks" great from the street, but we will see.....
ReplyDeleteI will say where the store is located can make a MAJOR difference. What I did think of reading this is I must have 15 (I'm not exaggerating) NICE purses in a bag in the garage for a garage sale at some unknown point in time. With not working I'm too lazy to change them. I remember being like you guys, where every penny goes to the kids because they are CONSTANTLY outgrowing everything. And what's more, I always spent everything on them anyways. Not only because it was needed to a degree, but also because it gave me more pleasure. My thought as I dwell on this is I wonder how many things each of us may have and not need that someone else might want.... That might be a project for down the line, but for now, describe for me what kind of purse you like/want and I'll see if I have one that fits your description. Please DO NOT feel any obligation to take it. Obviously I'm really old and our tastes are different. (I've only gotten Jessie to take one of my old purses in the past)
ReplyDeleteThere is a Thrift Store over in Top Town a couple of doors down from the little coffee shop we like to eat at sometimes. Inevitabley, Michelle and I will decide to check it out and see if there is anything new. We have found lots of interesting items in there, but we were just browsing and did not have anything in particular in mind when we went in. The main thing I like is the garage sales they have up here twice a year. Every Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend tons of people have garage sales. They literally have a map in the local paper of all the sales. It is an absolute ball! Last weekend Michelle got several baby items and I got a sewing machine and cabinet. We start out first thing in the morning and anything can happpen.
ReplyDeleteDanae - I'm looking for a medium to large sized bag, a few inside pockets, in a fun/loud color. I don't care for patterns really, unless of course they are really pretty... ha ha!
