Tea with injury

I thought it would be great to end today with some tea. I like tea, especially at night. It sounded just right because it was a long day, full of kids (not just my own). Oh it was going to be good, a little Sleepytime tea with a little chocolate. Sounds good right?? Wrong!! As I was pouring the hot water over my tea bag the top of the tea pot popped off letting out scalding steam all over my fingers on my right hand. I thought about crying, but didn't. It hurt that bad. It still hurts an hour later. I may even sleep with my hand in ice water. It hurts to type. But, I suppose it could've been worse- seeing as how I tossed the tea pot right as I realized it was happening. Ouch.

I had hoped to blog about something nice... maybe about how JD figured out how to chew gum - he was SOOOO proud of himself... maybe about Capri's obsession with Pinkalicious and Littlest Pet Shop.... maybe about Tella finding her voice.... maybe about how my kids eat fish, which is amazing considering I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole until last year..... But NO. I'm scalded instead.

  1. Don't put it in ice water. A burn has to have oxygen. Leave it uncovered in open air.

I have a gnarly burn on my right index finger.

  2. Oh Larissa...I hate a burn.....and I did that once with a tea kettle pouring water into a cup....for some reason I had my face down there watching the water come out (who knows why?) and the next thing I knew the steam was burning my FACE....I jerked my head away in a instant and it wasn't bad. Steam burns can be BAD....I recently burned BOTH of my knees with ice. Yes, that's right ICE...I have two ugly brown scars now to prove it....most horrid....JD can chew gum now?? haha I bet he loves that....Mel (I send her the posts I know she would be interested in...she can read some things off her phone) read your post about the Pinkalicious and how Jimmy was reading it to her etc., and she said it was one of the Chino Hills (where she worked for the last 3 years) kids favorite books (she almost always worked in the KG room) and she's read it literally hundreds of times...She loves it....said the Purplelicious is also cute, but not nearly as good....haha Anyway, hope your hand stopped hurting so you got a good night of sleep...btw, I'd love to hear about all the rest of those things too.... = ) Is Tella gonna stick?? I LOVE IT.....

  3. Burns are the worst. I have had a few, but the worst did require a cup of ice going all night long. I literally had to get up and refil a couple of times.
