JD's 1st day of Preschool

My little man started preschool this morning. I was worried I might get a little choked up, or that he might not want to go/stay because he has been adamant up until just this week that he is NOT going to go to school. I couldn't have been more off base - he was practically jumping with excitement! He ran into his classroom and didn't look back. I followed him in... but he almost just brushed me off, so much so his teacher was like "wow look at him, it's like he's saying don't let the door hit you on the way out mom!" I'm serious, it was so funny. Even James only got a wave from the back of the classroom! Lots of kids were crying and shy, but not our little Scuffy... he was all about it! I was so surprised at his confidence, I didn't even get the least bit sad!
On our way out the door....

So handsome!
The two together..
In the parking lot, look at how excited he is!
Daddy & JD
Isn't this good of us? Nevermind he looks nothing like me!
Bye mom, get out!
Special treats when they got home..
After all the pictures we've had recently, this is the first time Capri has attempted a smile.... little forced, but pretty good!
JD did great. His teacher said that it was like he already knew what to do. She commented on two funny things : one, that he is ALL boy. I clarified with her to make sure that he was not wild, and she said no he wasn't, he was just acting like a little boy... and that he listened quite well when directed! Whoo hooo!  Two, her exact words " wow, he doesn't have any problem eating does he?" She only had him for three hours one day and she already knows that? How hilarious is that???

Capri did good too. She did get an "oops" on her behavior chart, which means there was a problem. This didn't sound like Capri, she's pretty eager to please, so I talked to the teacher. Apparently the lot of them are having trouble staying in line when they walk to the playground. Now, I know that she had no trouble last year, and thats because the teacher made it fun... they sang and held the rope.  It's only the second day, and lets be honest - no one likes to stand in a line. This is a learned behavior, so I expect it will take a litte while to LEARN it. I'll stop here.

I had the morning to myself, but didn't accomplish too much. Tella fell asleep in the car seat on the way home, so she went strait down for a nap... which was good news. I ate some breakfast, read my bible, did some laundry and baked the cupcakes for them to have when they got home. And that's it. A friend of mine advised me that I need to have the time planned out or it will just disappear, and boy was she right. I'll plan a little better in the coming weeks.

I'll post more pictures of Capri's first day later since I just figured out (courtesy of my mother in law) that I can post more than five pictures. thanks mom!

  1. These pics are darling! How fun to have a little peek into their day! Personally, I think an "oops" for the line thing is a bit of an "easy". It always takes a while for everyone's pesonalities to mesh.

  2. Oh my little Scuffy...this is just how his daddy did school. haha Eager, excited, and without a backward glance...He's a good boy...I LOVE the pic of you and him...It is really good..And I am with Di. An oops for the line thing seems a big extreme for pre-schoolers but she'll work right in I'm sure. And I think her smile, while maybe a tid forced, haha, is cute, and a move in the right direction. She's trying...OH, and as far as having your time planned....it's a good idea and I'm sure you'll do well with it, but sometimes with 3 liitle kids, just enjoying some "nothing" much at all time is OK too...I know it seems unproductive and therefore frivilous, but trust me it's necessary sometimes to make the rest of your time good. Pray for me if you get the chance today. My knees are especially bothersome for some reason and we are starting Bible study back up today....Does Scuff want to go whenever Capri is?? Love you...mom What a good mom you are with cupcakes waiting!! Nope, no eating difficulties for most Classes, haha...

I'm praying these teachers know how to love my little angels....their hearts are so tiny, and tender.
