Part 2 of 3: Vacation with Daddy

James took a red-eye flight on sunday night so he could be with us early monday morning. He literally walked off plane an onto the boardwalk. My stress level decreased so significantly when he arrived... man oh man do I love my husband!!!!!!!!!!!!
Capri wanted to ride the ferris wheel really bad, so James took her on first thing.
Further down the boardwalk we stopped for our favorite pizza... Mack N Mancos. This is James teaching JD the ever-important "fold".
Well done JD! You're a natural!
See the giant cup in JD's hands? It's birch beer, my favorite soda. Kinda like root beer, but not really.
Lots of firsts happened on this trip. One of them was the loss of Capri's first tooth.
More boardwalk fun. A typical day on this vacation includes hitting the boards at least 2 to 3 times a day. JD was terrified of the talking/moving pirate and parrot. But after a while he decided it was ok to go in and ride the rides....
Bumper Cars!
Special time with Daddy....
One morning the whole family rented surreys. Ours of course was the fastest.... James peddled like a madman and singlehandedly beat everyone else.
Look at this smile!
More rides...
James and Capri, Uncle Aaron and Trystan
Our date night, out in Atantic City... it was the best meal ever!
Bobby Flay is one of James' favorite chefs.... so we visited his restaurant in the Borgata Casino Hotel in AC.
James taught JD to boogie board...
A portion of our large group...
JD, in his undies on the beach, just plain tired.
Capri spent her tooth fairy money on a hermit crab and named him "wawa". She fell in love with this crab....
More boardwalk fun, this time with Little Hal, Uncle Aaron and Aunt Desiree
4th of July.... Hanging out on the porch
Aunt Desiree made the most amazing peanut butter chocolate dessert. Seriously, it was insane. I got the recipe.
Kids on 4th of July
The whole group on the 4th....
My dad, brother and niece Megan

Adam and my brother drew
waiting for the fireworks

Capri stood up and sang "God Bless America" through the fireworks. All by herself, unprompted, just stood up and belted it out. It was hilarious!
4th of July was the last day we had with Daddy.... I was so sad to see him go. The next morning we drove him to the airport, sitting in the most RIDICULOUS traffic ever and got him there and to his plane with only 2 minutes to spare. Seriously, the most stressful thing ever.

  2. There is sooo much in this post I can't decide where to start and I know I'll forget something. I am soo glad you guys got to do this. It looks like such a good time and so many family memories were made. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that pic of James and Capri. How much he loves her is written all over his face. She's got that guy wrapped around her little finger for sure and I LOVE it. Just as it should be. A girl NEEDS her daddy sooo much. And then the pic of JD in his undies...he was soo done you can just tell. And eating his pizza...a pro for sure. And don't even get me started on Tella. She is just soo adorable. You look like a stun in that pic with her. I know you didn't like it, but I did like James's mustache, but I love that he took it off cuz you didn't like it. What a fun time for sure. I am sure it was hard when he left though. You are MUCH braver than me....Oh! and that dessert looks great ~ will have to try that out sometime, haha.
