Capri's first day of Kindergarten got started a little late this morning. It's going to take us all a while to get back into a routine after the craziness of summer. Here she is ready to go!
(I know it kind of looks like her hair is wild. Believe it or not, I blew her hair out the night before and flat-ironed it this morning with some nice product. The headband gave her a ton of confidence due to it's "sparkliness" so it is what it is. Plus Capri loves wildness, so I went with it)

Here is her Kindergarten class & teachers. Fortunately there are a handful of boys that she knows from last year. Apparently, one of them fell out of his chair and under the table today, which according to Capri was hilarious beyond words. I hope Henry thought so too, though I doubt it! Poor Henry!

And here she is when I picked her up! A happy successful Kindergartener! She said to me regarding the whole thing " I wasn't mad. I was happy!" She also said " mistakes are OK in Kindergarten". Pretty deep for the first day right?

We went for lunch and frosty's at Wendy's after school. This is what I got when I told them all to look and say cheese!

In case you didn't know. Backpacks are not only good for school use, they also make great mouse pilgrim habitats. How funny is that?

In my opinion Capri is a rockstar. And she had the cutest shoes in her class. I'm just sayin'.
Tomorrow she stays 'til 2:45. I don't think I like that. I wonder if she will? It's so cliche to say, but I can't believe she's big enough for this.
Anyway.
Here's hoping tomorrow morning runs a little smoother. Though if I have to be honest, the problem this morning was me. This ridiculous lions mane of hair I have going on takes FOR-EV-ER to dry. Forever. Lesson learned, shower and do hair the night before. Duh.
I am sooo glad you posted these. I feel like I was there. She looks totally adorable, and the shoes are PERFECT. Sooo cute and sooo Capri. KG is a BIG step and hard one in soo many ways. The beginning of the many many steps to total independence. A pretty big chunk of time away from you and in her own world. I think her day seems long too...sigh...I think sometimes it is a lot harder on mom and dad (and Grandma's too) then on the kid though..I love the pics of her and daddy...SUCH a daddy's girl that one. She's got him soo wrapped around her little finger. And yet, JUST where she should be in my book. James looks soo protective of her. Bet he wishes he could follow her through her day and make sure all goes well... JD looks sooo sweet standing beside her on her big day. I love him soo. Just look at his face. I love that she said, "I wasn't mad, I was happy!" YAY...that's just what you want to hear...
ReplyDeleteWhat a doll! I feel like I know your kiddos from Debbie!!! Glad she liked it!!! It is hard on the Mommies!!!
ReplyDeletePS Maybe you should consider a Brazilian Blowout?
The pics are darling! You soooooo captured the feel of the day. It is hard, I know, to watch them taking these major steps. A Mommies heart has to take a LOT. The ones of her with her Daddy are precious! MLOL on the Brazillian blowout!
ReplyDeleteI would love to say a bunch of encouraging words and I wish I wasn't such a bummer on this....but I'm still sad. It's totally selfish, she will do amazing....I just loved having her around all the time...for skating etc....and I have sooo many more things we need to do...I don't see time for Kindergarten.
ReplyDeleteI'll get over it...but it will take a while.
Yay to the first day of KG!! So exciting and she looked like a doll! Riley had her first day of preschool today, well the first day of a new year, she started back in January. The only thing I don't like about school is me having to be ready to take her into her classroom where people can see me. Scary, that early in the morning and all!! Sounds like it was a fabulous first day with many more to come!
