Oh, details. Sometimes I'm so good at them. Sometimes not. Yesterday, I was not.
We started the day so cute, with Tella playing dress up with my clothes.
We also started the day with the promise that when Capri is done preschool we can go to the Wild Animal Park to see the BUTTERFLY exhibit. I put 'butterfly' in all caps because that was the single most important reason we were going to the WAP. Practically the only reason.
Here's Tell's first dress up attempt:
I put shorts on JD, I knew it was going to be hot.
He did not want to wear them, saying " I can't wear my legs to the WAP!"
I pretended not to hear him and off we went.
JD (and his legs) being a turtle:
And Capri, so full of promise, decked out in her butterfly best...
with wings, butterfly clips in her hair,
and fancy nancy along to say "bonjour" to the butterflies (just like the book)
It was an idyllic, beautiful day....
well behaved children, perfect weather.
Oh, the details. If I had only checked the details.
I wouldn't have seen this face:
You guessed it right? No butterflies.
It doesn't open 'til Saturday.
Yes, I should have checked that out.
It was sort of reminiscent of the time they cancelled the shamu show on JD.
I just knew it was butterfly time, I didn't know I was a week early!
I apologized to her, and promised a return visit next week to correct this disastrous first trip.
She was good with it, and handled it well.
Her only view of the butterflies was thru 2 barricades and 2 sets of double doors:
Fortunately the WAP has a water feature!
Tella ran around saying "wow wow wow", see her little lips?
Notice the cute capri khaki's?
Yeah, we lost those at the park. Took 'em off to dry and poof! they're gone.
Her little perch, which she battled other babies to maintain.
She was victorious.
My little pantsless wild man:
Capri met a new friend:
We were there for a good couple of hours and I was really tiring out...
but just before we left we did have time for a "Chipmunk Show".
They sang the Christmas song from the Alvin & the Chipmunk movie.
It was hilarious.
Think I'm crazy for braving a theme park alone with three small wild ones?
I wouldn't have, except for this nifty contraption given to me by a friend:
Limitless possibilities with this bad boy.
Not sure why this is underlined but I don't care at this point.
The bottom line is this...... LESSON LEARNED!
CHECK THE DETAILS.
I just can't believe how big Tella looks. I am soo excited to see them today. It has been the longest it has ever been. Capri's face on the NO BUTTERFLYS says it all. How sad. JD can't "wear his legs" is also hysterical. I have a feeling with an older brother AND older sister Tella will know how to hold her own, haha...those poses JD breaks into are soo Jimmy. I should dig out some pics of him in his poses..Looks like such a fun day in spite of the no butterflys. Now you have an excuse to go back right away too. Your such a good mommy. See you all soon...can't wait. = )
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh you did that alone?? Good job girl, you definitely are a brave one!
ReplyDeletePoor Capri, at least you are going back next week! She looked so cute in her wings and everything, I love that she has such a great imagination! Glad that your son decided that he could take his legs to the park. Dang legs, sometimes I'm not so sure about mine either ;)
that face was priceless!!! She looks so much like Jimmy in that picture! there is nothing worse then the sad face!!! But at least you are going back! I can't believe how grown up they are!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your posts. The way you have the pictures with what's happening in them is priceless!
